More tips for using Google Search Console

These tips for using Google Search Console are excellent. For example, downloading tables can give you all the pages, and much more data.

I’ve stolen today’s content from this excellent article, which has a lot more good stuff than is mentioned below. But these tips for using Google Search Console are excellent.

  • Don’t just record monthly figures to see trends. Make sure to look at what’s happened in between – the spikes can be fascinating.
  • In the stacked bar charts, look at each metric individually. It’s easy to miss what’s happening in stacked charts.
  • Screenshot charts if you can – you won’t be able to get today’s data in a few years’ time, and data points may not be enough.
  • Record data regularly. Yes, look at the trends within months (see above), but also keep logs of your chosen data points.
  • More insights can be hiding on page two. Downloading tables can give you all the pages, and much more data.
  • Don’t just record changes, think about what they mean. And note website changes to see if the two tie up.
