Last week Search Engine Journal spotted that Google seems to be testing ads within the search results, quite high up, rather than just running them at the top. Many of us have been expecting this for quite some time, now that social media streams have made ads popping up within the stream the default experience. And on mobile devices with an infinite scroll of search results, ads have long been shown in the equivalent of any ‘new page’ positions.
Of course, Google tests a lot of things, and often they’re never heard of again. But in this case? I suspect it’s got legs.
