A lasting legacy

It’s unlikely to be of any relevance to anyone here, but it’s worth a mention: WordPress recently announced the availability of 100-year domain registration. It’s incredibly expensive (even per year) but is designed, by the sound of things, for people who want to document something on the web and not worry about it lapsing when they die. Which, I suppose, is fair enough. I run loads of websites, and when I go, they’ll stagnate and then eventually become deregistered and disappear. With current domain name registrations limited to 10 years, they might not outlast me by long. This is not something that concerns me, but I guess it might do for some people.

Anyway, who’s checked up when their company domain name expires, and who’s got a system in place for renewing it when it does, if we’re not around?
