Product images in the Google results

I’m seeing a lot more product images in the Google results at the moment – are you? This is the sort of thing I mean:

Desktop

Mobile

Like everything else with the Google results, there’s not much we can do to force Google to show or not show our images, or even choose which ones are used. But following common sense and basic rules might push things in the right direction – for example, ensuring the primary images on the page have proper alt text and titles. Google has a lot of guidelines available.

It’s clear that it helps to have images that look good when cropped to a square format too. Unfortunately I don’t have the answer to how or why some results get awarded a complete ‘gallery’ of multiple images!

(As an aside, note in the mobile results page above, the continued use there of ‘Favicon’ logos – this is something to ensure you’ve got right too).
