Many company websites will have been provided by the designer with links to social media, such as LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter. Some feature them quite prominently on every page. I’ve remarked before about what a bad idea this is (why send visitors off down a rabbit hole like social media?).
It’s even worse, however, if that social media isn’t well maintained.
Limit the social media links to accounts you frequently update, and only link to them on pages where people will be looking for them, such as ‘contact us’. Also take a look at your marketing emails – these often come with social media links as standard that you really might not want people to follow.
