Getting product pages to rank highly in search is difficult. By definition, they probably don’t have much of a narrative for Google to get its teeth into. Just about the only marker of importance would be links to the page. If we’re lucky, we might be able to generate those links externally, but we can at least create some internally.
A page with more substantial text about a product, whether it’s a description, a case study or whatever, should always link to the related product page. That will give the product page some link credit. However, a page describing a range of products can easily link to several product pages; just make sure that each one referenced has its own descriptive text, rather than just listing the products at the end. Don’t go overboard though – by listing lots of products, you’re saying that each is only slightly relevant to the piece you’re hoping Google will like.
