Google Ads recommendations: not unless I say so, thanks

Here’s a brilliant article for those of you running their own Google Ads campaigns. It explains the list of ‘Auto-Applied Recommendations’, which the system might apply in order to ‘improve’ your advertisement campaign, if you let it. The list is now so long that even as Google Ads professionals, we doubt we could keep under control what they might be doing to our accounts, so our default is to switch the auto-application ‘feature’ off. Note that if you do not have ‘Ad Suggestions’ automatically applied, you will still get them in your ‘recommendations’ tab to accept manually. Like us, the author points out that for many of the suggestions, “This strategy has merit, but I do not want automation to turn it on.”
