Google Data Studio: a useful timesaver

Most people who need to visualise and report on data from products such as Google Analytics and Google Search Console take one of two approaches: they export the data into a spreadsheet and make graphs there; or they just use what the applications provide, exporting charts or even taking screenshots.

There is a better way, and it’s called Google Data Studio. This free tool from Google takes data from a huge range of sources, including Google’s own Ads, Analytics and Search Console, as well as databases, social media platforms and even flat data files. Once you’ve set up reports or ‘dashboards’, they can be constantly updated for others to look at, or you can just pull down the latest version for a report.

Here’s a good introduction to what Data Studio can do, and if you want to devote some time to learning how to use it, this series of training videos will get you to a competent level pretty quickly.
