The video call tech race hots up

Zoom was the right product at the right time this year, and its name is so good that it may even become a generic term for a video meeting. Some of the big boys have joined the market, but I’ve heard people talk about a ‘Google Zoom call’ and ask: “Shall we do a Zoom on Microsoft Teams?” That’ll probably annoy Zoom as much as it would its competitors.

One thing that companies like Google and Microsoft will have going for them is the ability to integrate relevant research projects that could make group video calls better. A great example is Google introducing AI-powered noise cancellation to its video calls. There’s a good article about it here which includes an impressive video demonstration.
