Do we use surveys and polls enough?

It’s hard to buy anything or go anywhere these days without getting an online survey afterwards asking what you thought. Despite that, I think such surveys aren’t used enough in business, and certainly not in research and planning. Most of us make a constant stream of business decisions based on hunches and experience, when customers’ or colleagues’ actual opinions are just a quick survey away.
