Launching a new product is one of the best opportunities to get links from around the web and on social media. Yet when you send out the first announcements, there may not be a finished landing page on your website for people to quote, and it’s a big opportunity missed if there’s nothing they can link to.
One good solution to this problem involves creating a temporary URL which you can redirect to a teaser (‘coming soon’) page in advance of the launch, then redirect to a launch announcement landing page, and – once the fuss has died down – redirect to the standard product page. This allows any website editor or social media user to link to a relevant page on your site. You’ll then end up with any external, pre-launch links pointing to the product page, even though it may not have existed at the time the news was first released.
