Don’t forget to jazz up your social media posts

Do you post news stories and other links to your web pages on to social media, such as Twitter? If you do, please don’t make the mistake that so many companies do, of just pasting in the headline as the message. By pasting in a link, the social media platform will automatically show the headline and an image underneath your message, so don’t repeat it! For example, say you’re linking to a web page which is headlined “New blue widget is fastest on market”. That’ll be displayed as part of your social media post. So make the message above it something interesting, such as “The Blue Widget Co is set to shake up the market today. Find out how, here:”. You’re going to be competing with much more interesting stuff on social media than you might be elsewhere – don’t take your followers’ interest for granted.
