Marketing guru Seth Godin has a new book out this week. This isn’t a review, because my copy has only just been ordered. However, I’m pretty certain that This is Marketing: You Can’t Be Seen Until You Learn To See will be worth reading, as all of the author’s previous books have been.
The blurb says: “At the heart of (Seth Godin’s) approach is a big idea: great marketers don’t use consumers to solve their company’s problem; they use marketing to solve other people’s problems. They don’t just make noise; they make the world better. Truly powerful marketing is grounded in empathy, generosity, and emotional labour.” If that sounds more inspirational than practical, stick with it. We all need a bit of inspiration, and I’m guessing that the author will tell us how to take the side of the customer and be a better marketer for it. Today’s market wants much more than just being sold to, and it’s the next step most of us need to take.
This is Marketing: You Can’t Be Seen Until You Learn To See is available for £14.99.
