Your website, and indeed all of your marketing material, needs photos. Visual cues are everything nowadays. I’m astonished at how many industrial websites I see where the only product image is a horrid cutout lifted from the datasheet of a component manufacturer who doesn’t have to care much, because they don’t actually sell the things directly.
In your pocket is a smartphone camera which is more than adequate for a good website image. All you need, over and above this, is to learn about lighting, and how to resize and compress the resulting images effectively. One company I know spent £50 on a shooting tent and some lights, and gets one of their colleagues in the warehouse to photograph everything that arrives in stock.
People, components, applications – if you’re not photographing everything, ask yourself why not.
