I’m always talking about getting links from other sites, and establishing your site as an authority, and here’s one way in which you can do both: Yahoo! Answers. An article called Using Yahoo! Answers to Promote Your Website on Search Engine People explains more. Like Wikipedia, the links on Yahoo! Answers are what’s known as “nofollow” links, so they don’t give you any link credit for search engine ranking, but they will bring in traffic, and it’s quite possible that whoever was looking for a good answer to their question might then link directly to you from a site which they run.
