When is a lead not a lead?

Following my previous comments, I’ve just been pulled-up by an article at Mac McIntosh’s Sales Leads Insights Blog.
It’s entitled ‘Are Inbound Leads Really Leads? I Believe the Majority Are Not’.
Basically, he’s saying that we’ve all got lazy with our terminology, by calling everything incoming a lead when it’s not. Once it’s qualified only then can we determine if it is actually is a lead. Until then it remains a prospect, or even, as Mac calls it, a suspect.
