Before that, Chris was the editor of Industrial Technology magazine, taking it from its 1988 launch to market leadership within five years, a position the magazine still holds today.

Chris built a website for Industrial Technology magazine back in 1994, when the internet was being treated by most people as no more than a CB-radio-style fad. By the end of the nineties it was getting as many readers as the magazine, sparking his unhealthy interest in the workings of the internet, which continues to this day. At their peak, Engineeringtalk and its sister websites at Pro-Talk pulled in over a million visitors a month, traffic levels where even the smallest website tweak can have a major impact.
