So you'd like to know more about us? We're a small UK-based organisation, launching its first product, the Business Marketing Online Insider Programme, in October 2008. This is an online marketing training and consultancy service, tailored to UK-based manufacturers and distributors in the industrial, scientific and wider business sectors. We aim to offer other online marketing support services as the company grows.
Business Marketing Online is comprised of a small but talented and extraordinarily helpful team of people, led by Chris Rand. You may have come across Chris over the past twenty years if you're in the engineering sector: Chris launched the Engineeringtalk website and weekly newsletter back in 2000, building it to a circulation of over 50,000 and making it easily the UK's top online publication for manufacturing industry, before handing over ownership to Centaur Media in 2006. Before that, Chris was the editor of Industrial Technology magazine, taking it from its 1988 launch to market leadership within five years, a position the magazine still holds today.
Chris built a website for Industrial Technology magazine back in 1994, when the internet was being treated by most people as no more than a CB-radio-style fad. By the end of the nineties it was getting as many readers as the magazine, sparking his unhealthy interest in the workings of the internet, which continues to this day. At their peak, Engineeringtalk and its sister websites at Pro-Talk pulled in over a million visitors a month, traffic levels where even the smallest website tweak can have a major impact. With the Insider Programme, Chris aims to combine this knowledge of what makes a business website tick with his understanding of the aims and constraints of the marketing departments in technology companies.
