Chris Rand, founder of BMON, was one of the UK’s best-known engineering trade press editors for over twenty years. Chris edited or wrote for Industrial Technology, Design Engineering, Process Engineering, Electronics Times and many more magazines before launching the highly successful Engineeringtalk and the Pro-Talk online network. His informative (and often pithy) Online Marketing – An Article a Day blogs are followed avidly by over 3,000 industrial and scientific marketing managers all over the country. Often referred to (affectionately) by his colleagues as a bit of a geek, Chris is a fountain of knowledge on all things related to the internet. his passion for technology is unrelenting, although he’s just as keen to discuss the unique lyrics of Half Man Half Biscuit, as well as Championship football (as long as Ipswich Town haven’t lost. Again).
Jackie West is BMON’s Implementation Manager. Jackie’s marketing communications background stems from a long career in B2B marketing – in the last 35 years with a world leading manufacturer of medical devices, then the UK’s largest industrial automation company, as well as Pro-Talk and Centaur Media. Having had responsibility for serious marketing communications budgets, Jackie fully understands the challenges (and frustrations) faced every day by in-house marketing managers in industry, especially with the current onslaught of online offerings and the pressure to learn all about them. If you’re ever wandering the west coast of Scotland, Jackie may well be found on the shoreline, hoping to spot her favourite animal, the elusive otter. she also holds a voluntary position, on the advisory board of the Skye-based International Otter Survival Fund.
Rob Hancocks, BMON’s Sales Manager, is a familiar face around industrial trade shows. He has been in the thick of advertising sales in the engineering, manufacturing and laboratory sectors for many years, with publishers such as Morgan-Grampian, Miller-Freeman, New Wave Publishing, Pro-Talk and Centaur Media. Rob has now moved away from direct advertising sales to promoting our Google Adwords services – acknowledging that this is the future for industrial and scientific companies to effectively reach their audiences. Rob enjoys long walks in the Bedfordshire countryside armed with his trusty binoculars ready for that ‘spot’ – although you might also bump into him at R&B gigs.
Laura Mart provides sales and marketing support, drawing on a wide breadth of experience in B2B marketing, excellent customer service skills and a wide understanding of the technology BMON utilises in the day-to-day running of the business, with her forte being database management. Away from the the office Laura is captain of a local ladies darts team and also volunteers at her local hospital. Her young family also keep Laura very busy, which the rest of the team believe stands her in good stead for managing them on a daily basis.
Tony Rand, BMON’s Business Development Manager, has over 25 years in sales and marketing, with wide experience across the retail, construction, engineering, manufacturing and scientific sectors. He has seen first-hand the change in B2B marketing, having progressed through traditional sales, and understands the demands from the sales team which marketing has to meet. With this experience, he knows he can now offer clients a more effective route to market with an excellent return on investment, whilst meeting (and often exceeding) their marketing communications objectives. Living in rural Suffolk, Tony can also frequently be found on the golf course refining his handicap, and often goes missing when there’s a major sporting event.
