What impression are your thank-yous giving?

I think that very few organisations make the most of confirmation emails or web pages. These are the messages you send people, usually automatically, once they’ve signed up for something, made an enquiry or just asked for you to get in touch. Just because the response comes from a machine (and the prospect is fully aware of that) doesn’t mean that it has to be inhuman.

If you have a signup form on your website for a newsletter, there’ll be a confirmation message on screen and probably a confirmatory email.

If you have an “enquire about this product” form on your website, there’ll be a confirmation message on screen and probably a confirmatory email.

Even if it’s just the “send us a message” form on your website, there’ll be a confirmation message on screen and probably a confirmatory email.

Do you know what they say? Have you filled in your own forms and actually tried them out recently?
